On Sept. 16, 2022, 22-year-old Mahsa Amini died while in police custody, guilty of wrongly wearing the Islamic headscarf on her head. Since then, Iran has been rocked by large and widespread street demonstrations protesting the regime's oppression of its citizens - and particularly women.  In four months, at least 500 people have died as a result of the crackdown.

This conference aimed to shed light on the condition of women in Iran and to understand what the possible outcome of these protests will be. The panelists are Irene Testa, journalist and Radical activist, and Magdi Cristiano Allam, journalist and essayist. Also speaking are Vice-President of the Regional Council of Tuscany, Marco Casucci, Senator Manfredi Potenti and Andrea Bandelli (vice-president of the Machiavelli Center), Cecilia Cappelletti (councilwoman of the Metropolitan City of Florence for the League), Elena Meini (group leader of the League in the Regional Council of Tuscany) and Marco Landi (spokesman for the Opposition in the Regional Council).

The event was held on Friday, February 3, 2023 at the Auditorium of the Tuscany Region, Via Cavour 4, Florence.
