Come l’immigrazione sta cambiando la demografia italiana: statistiche e prospettive è il secondo Dossier del Machiavelli, firmato da Daniele Scalea.
Sommario esecutivo:
L’Europa e l’Italia affrontano un periodo di flussi migratori in entrata senza precedenti. Ciò dipende in primis dalla concomitanza tra declino demografico europeo (dal 22% della popolazione mondiale nel 1950 al 7% nel 2050) ed esplosione demografica africana (dal 9% al 25% della popolazione mondiale in cento anni). Nel 2065 la quota di immigrati di prima e seconda generazione in Italia potrebbe superare il 40% della popolazione totale. Inoltre, si assiste a una maggiore omogeneità dell’immigrazione: le prime dieci nazionalità rappresentano oggi il 64% degli immigrati totali, mentre negli anni ‘70 appena il 13%. Tutto ciò non si discosta da quanto sta accadendo in diversi Paesi dell’Europa Occidentale. Intorno al 2065 in Gran Bretagna l’etnia britannica dovrebbe perdere la maggioranza assoluta nel proprio Paese. Oggi in Germania i minori di 5 anni sono al 36% figli di immigrati, lasciando presagire un grande mutamento nella composizione etnica della prossima generazione. Questo rivolgimento etno-demografico della popolazione europea, e italiana in particolare, deve far parte del dibattito in corso sulle politiche migratorie.
