Recently the Polish Constitutional Tribunal rejected the principle of the primacy of EU law over national legislation in certain judicial matters. This decision came in the midst of a dispute between Warsaw and the EU Commission, with the latter withholding billions of euros of aid for post-pandemic rebuilding in Poland. But it’s a problem pertaining to all EU member states and, specifically, their democratic processes.

With the help of experts from Poland and Hungary we’ll try to understand the issue and its implications for all Europe – Italy included.
Keynote speeches will be delivered by Rodrigo Ballester, Head of the Center for European Studies at Mathias Corvinus Collegium of Budapest, and Tymoteusz Zych, Rector of Collegium Intermarium, Warsaw.
Discussion will involve M.P.s Giulio Centemero, Guglielmo Picchi, and Nicola Procaccini, and publisher and essayist Francesco Giubilei. The event will be introduced by Daniele Scalea, President of the Machiavelli Center, and moderated by Marton Aron Kovacs, MCC Fellow at the Machiavelli Center.

The event (co-organized by the Machiavelli Center and the Mathias Corvinus Collegium) will be held on Thursday 25th November 2021, from 17.00 to 18.30, at the Salvadori Room in the Palazzo dei Gruppi of the Chamber of Deputies, Via Uffici del Vicario 21, Rome.
