IRANIAN WOMEN: between past and present - what future?
3 February 2023 @ 16:30 - 19:00
On Sept. 16, 2022, 22-year-old Mahsa Amini died while in police custody, guilty of wrongly wearing the Islamic headscarf on her head. Since then, Iran has been rocked by large and widespread street demonstrations protesting the regime's oppression of its citizens - and particularly women. In four months, at least 500 people have died as a result of the crackdown.
This conference aims to shed light on the condition of women in Iran and to understand what the possible outcome of these protests will be. The panelists will be Irene Testa, journalist and Radical activist, and Magdi Cristiano Allam, journalist and essayist. Also speaking will be Vice-President of the Regional Council of Tuscany, Marco Casucci, Senator Manfredi Potenti and Cecilia Cappelletti (councilwoman of the Metropolitan City of Florence for the League), Elena Meini (group leader of the League in the Regional Council of Tuscany) and Marco Landi (spokesman for the Opposition in the Regional Council).
The event will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Tuscany Region Auditorium, Via Cavour 4, Florence. Registration is required to attend (click to fill out the form otherwise send us an e-mail) by noon on the conference day. Working language: Italian.
