On October 8, Dr. James Carafano of The Heritage Foundation, in partnership with the Machiavelli Center for Political and Strategic Studies, hosted a roundtable discussion on the future of US-Italy cooperation with Africa. The event took place at The Heritage Foundation’s headquarters at 214 Massachusetts Ave NE, Washington, DC, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM ET, and was conducted off-the-record.

Representing the Machiavelli Center were Daniele Scalea and Guglielmo Picchi, who presented the Italian government’s initiatives towards Africa, notably the Rome Process and the Mattei Plan. They discussed these initiatives with a distinguished audience that included numerous American experts, former administration members, and African diplomats. The discussion delved into both Italy’s projects and future US strategies in Africa, providing a deep and engaging dialogue among the participants.
